In summer it is important to keep on top of weeding, as any bare ground can rapidly become infested, and some weeds, once established, can be hard to eradicate.
In the warm early summer months, bedding plants can be planted and give almost instant colour to any garden.
Dead-head flowering plants will encourage more flowers, as the plant will not waste energy making seeds. Make sure any tall growing plants are adequately staked.
Grass should be cut once a week when possible, and fast growing hedges will need trimmed several times over Summer.
Above all, Summer is the time for enjoying your garden. Make the most of a deck or patio, have barbecues and spend quality time with friends and family in your garden.
